Best Time To Go to Florianópolis Beaches

The best time to have a beach vacation in the Florianópolis area is October, November, and December when the weather is warm and sunny.

During this time, temperatures can range from 70-80 degrees Fahrenheit (20°C-30°C), just perfect for beach activities and water sports.

However, if you’re looking for the hottest temperatures and more crowded beaches, the high season in Florianópolis, Brazil, is from December to March. During this time, temperatures can reach 80°F (30°C) or higher, and the beach scene is bustling with locals and visitors alike. Avoiding this time of year is best if you don’t like large crowds.

Tips To Stay Safe and Make the Most of Your Florianópolis Beach

Florianópolis, Brazil, is an excellent place to explore and soak up the sun. But regardless of how beautiful the place is, you must still be cautious. Here are some tips to help you make the most of your beach excursion:

  • Stay hydrated. The sun and the sand can be very draining, so drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. Pack a water bottle and refill it at the beach bars and restaurants.
  • Bring sunscreen. Since the sun can be strong, make sure to bring along sunscreen with a high SPF. Remember to put on more often, especially after swimming.
  • Pack snacks. While there are many restaurants and food stalls along the beach, bringing snacks in your beach bag can help you save money and stay energized for a full day of fun.
  • Prepare a transportation plan. If you plan to visit multiple beaches or stay out late, consider renting a car or using ride-sharing services. Public transportation is also available but is more infrequent in my experience.
  • Be mindful of safety. Solo travelers and women should be extra cautious when exploring alone. Stick to busy areas, avoid walking alone at night, and be aware of your surroundings.
  • Pack light. Traveling to the beach with a lot of gear can be a hassle. Pack light, and only bring what you need to enjoy your day at the beach. For example, bring a towel, sunscreen, a hat, a book, and your must-have gadgets.
  • Consider protecting yourself with travel insurance such as SafetyWing, which can cover medical emergencies, trip cancellations, and other unforeseen incidents during your stay.
